Will the Sun ever burn out?
It is believed that the Sun-like all stars-will burn out eventually. As a star uses up the hydrogen that fuels the nuclear reactions that power it, it is thought to die, collapsing in upon itself. But it's unlikely this will happen in the near future: our Sun is expected to shine for at least another five billion years.
Our galaxy, the Milky Way, has some hundred billion stars.
